A Taliban delegation will travel to the Norwegian capital next week to take part in talks on Afghanistan.

According to the Norwegian Foreign Ministry, the Taliban has been invited to Oslo for a three-day visit from January 23 to 25.
The Taliban delegation will meet with representatives of the Norwegian government, a number of allied countries, as well as non-governmental organizations.
Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt has expressed concern over the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and described the situation in the country as a comprehensive humanitarian catastrophe affecting millions of people. He said the Taliban’s expected visit did not mean recognition of the government in Afghanistan, but that Oslo was forced to contact those who actually ruled the Asian country.
