The International Monetary Fund will provide a $ 440 million loan to Moldova

The Moldovan parliament has approved the government’s decision to take two loans from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) totaling about $ 440 million.

The statement came from the press service of the legislature, citing Moldovan media.

Foreign government loans from the IMF will be attracted through expanded lending and financing mechanisms.

The funds will be used to implement various projects in Moldova in the fields of infrastructure, energy, health and education, as well as to create new jobs. Both loans must be repaid within ten years.

At the same time, the country will receive about $ 147 million through the extended lending mechanism.
