Russia’s membership in the Council of Europe has been officially suspended from today.
The country’s tricolor flag has been removed from the Alley of Flags of the Council of Europe.
Russia has been a member of the organization for 26 years. After the war with Ukraine, Russia announced its withdrawal from the Council of Europe and the European Convention on Human Rights.
Nevertheless, Moscow has promised to abide by the ECHR’s decisions if they are not unconstitutional.
