STATEMENT

The baseless accusations of the French head of state against Azerbaijan, aimed mostly at the domestic audience, completely one-sided and openly defending Armenia, are completely biased and serve the interests of the Armenian lobby. The last statement of the French president was clearly calculated to win the sympathy of the Armenian diaspora.

These statements caused a sharp protest of all Azerbaijanis living in the world. This once again shows that France cannot maintain its impartiality as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group.

The French President’s views against Azerbaijan seriously call into question the neutrality and impartiality of his mediation efforts.

Against Azerbaijan’s efforts to ensure peace, stability and development in the region and to normalize relations based on respect for the principles of international law, France’s unilateral position and groundless accusations create the need to review the mediation efforts of this country and assess them within the framework of the principles of international law.

It is known that the European Union, along with Russia, has recently been active in the process of constructive negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

We state that the mediating country must be impartial and fair. France does not distinguish between the aggressor Armenia and the occupied Azerbaijan and defends the invading Armenia biasedly. It should be recalled that in 1993, France voted in favor of the known four resolutions of the UN Security Council demanding the withdrawal of Armenian troops from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
