The statement came from Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andrei Melnik in an interview with Handelsblatt, TASS reports.
According to the diplomat, although Volodymyr Zelensky is ready to hold direct talks with Vladimir Putin at any time, Moscow refuses to extend a hand to Kiev.
Melnik said that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz should personally request the restoration of the «Normandy format» (Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine) on the Donbas. He called on the German government and opposition to reconsider supplying defense weapons to Ukraine.
