Elyar Valiyev was born on October 17, 1991 in Sadafli village of Gobustan district. Elyar Valiyev, an ensign of the Azerbaijan Army, was launched on September 27, 2020 by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces to liberate the territories occupied by Armenia and restore the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. During the Patriotic War, he fought in the battles for the freedom of Fuzuli, Jabrayil and Gubadli. Elyar Valiyev was martyred on October 19 during the Gubadli battles.
On October 19, Elyar Valiyev and a group of 40 people entered the battles for positions of serious importance and strategic importance to take control of the Lachin Corridor. First, the battles were fought for favorable positions in the direction of Gubadli district. ~150-200 military personnel from the Armenian side fought in the battles in unequal conditions. As a result of heavy fighting that lasted for more than 7 hours, four members of the Special Forces Group were killed — senior ensign Subhan Jabrayilov, senior ensign Jamal Ismayilov, ensign Shahriyar Guliyev and ensign Elyar Valiyev. In general, the battalion to which Elyar Valiyev belongs is the most martyred battalion of the Special Forces during the war. According to the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated 15.12.2020, Elyar Valiyev was posthumously awarded the «For the Fatherland» medal for participating in military operations for ensuring the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and honorably fulfilling his duties during the execution of the tasks assigned to the military unit.
According to the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated 24.12.2020, Elyar Valiyev was posthumously awarded with the medal «For the liberation of Jabrayil» for participating in the military operations for the liberation of Jabrayil region of Azerbaijan from occupation.
